Class of 1984
A Rose (Singlemalt), Ray
Aug 20, 2007
 Hey Fellow Acorns:
After graduating Live Oak I became a cartoon character named VJ. VJ Singlemalt.
Seriously, I just started this company and am looking to shamelessly plug it here in the alumni forum. Sorry, but I've got a big mortgage to pay in Mill Valley.
I have two kids, a great wife and I live for them and I live to play golf and to party!
If any of you fellow acorns are into learning golf the easy way or if you need some work on your golf swing then please drop me a note. I'll send you out some free merchandise! It seriously works. And I'm not just saying that.
Flow it down!

Hi to all. I am still living in good old Morgan Hill and enjoying it very much. I have been married for the past 20 years. We have four children and that keeps me pretty busy. They are 17, 16, 10 and 8, one in college, one at Live Oak and the little ones are homeschooled. I work for myself as a doula, (a professional childbirth assistant)and a midwifes assistant. It's a and very rewarding career. I would love to hear about your life. Drop me a quick note.

Hi all.... Wow how do you sum up 17 years in this little box. Well after high school I got married and divorced in the same year not good, but I have a great son Kevan (16). Three years later I had a daughter Jennifer (12) with my long time high school sweet heart Jesse Ramirez. In 1989 I moved to San Diego and went to college and received a degree in Psychology. I now work as an employment counselor / social worker and I love my job. Reading all your updates and looking back was great and just think in two years I will be sitting in the stands at my own sons graduation. I'm happy and life is great and I would love to hear from you so drop me an email.

Wow! I cannot believe it has been 20 yrs, where does the time go? I attended Gavilan for 2 yrs. In 1986 I started working in retail where I met my husband, John, he works for Tyco/ADT. We started dating in 1987, those of you who were at the 5 year reunion may have met him. We married in June of 1990. Our daughter, Brittany, was born in December of 1994. In May of 2004, we purchased our first home in Escalon, CA. It is a small town (pop. 6500 approx) located between Manteca and Modesto. It will be a huge adjustment for me after being in Morgan Hill for 35 yrs. But, I'm sure I can handle it, after all, I survived high school with all of you. ;) I hope to see you at the reunion. :) Feel free to drop me a line, I would love to hear from you.

Hey All! I'm living in the Morgan Hill area and working in San Jose. I returned to the area in 1996 after living in Italy for 4 wonderful years. I'm glad to be home but travel as often as I can. Work allows me some flexibility so that really helps. Drop a line sometime and let me know how you're doin'!

After moving back to the Bay Area (in 1994) after 10 years in Southern California I decided to finally finish my BA in Environmental Science (yes, I'm a treehugger). I married Steve Beck in 1997 whom I met playing volleyball in Santa Clara and also an Acorn alumnus ('79). We now have a wonderful son, Parker (born in '99), and twin girls, Emma and Alyssa (born in '02). At 7 months Alyssa was diagonsed with cancer and endured 7 months of chemo but now she's in remission and getting back on track. Living in Gilroy and running our wedding services & floral business amongst many other things.

What a great site. My brother, a 1976 graduate phoned me late one night from CO to have me add to the list. I'm currently retired from DuPont after 14 years in electronics and love being a fulltime mom. I have married the most wonderful man (Ron) and we have been blessed with a beautiful daughter 5 (Elizabeth) and a 19 year old son (Dan). Life is Grand!
Hey every body!! Well just returned to Morgan Hill of all places, after being gone for nine years. After graduation from Chico State 1989, I lived in Chicago, San Francisco, Sacramento...and now back to the ole Morgan Hill. I came back because of a really great job opportunity. I am a marketing manager for Custom Chrome, we distribute after market parts for Harley Davidson® motorcycles. No don't own a Harly. Spend most of my free time riding mountain bikes and restoring antique furniture. Currently recently divorced with no children. Well thats what an old school bro is up to! Wally Budz

I left home, friends and family to find a new, exciting and different life on my own terms, even being known by a different name. I followed every dream I had, working alongside and befriending many people I've admired. Tasted some fame and did as much of what life has to offer. Having the attention of people who admired or hated what I've done, I have my share of tales to tell. Some outrageous, some depressing, but none regretful.
Sometimes I look back and think what a clever looking kid, just look what happened...
Hi fellow Acorns. The years are passing quickly... but it's good to see that so many people from our class are doing well. I've stayed local... SJSU grad, living in San Jose. My wife and I have dreams of moving to the Boulder area next year. We don't have any children... (I'm still on probation as a newlywed) but we have three cats. Children can't possibly be as much trouble as three cats, can they? ;-) -- I catch up with Mr. Gus Tirado every once in a while... he's in D.C. these days. He's still looking good, smart, and as much of a pain in the butt as always... nice to see that some things never change! Best wishes,
Bustamante, James

Well, Right on. It's great to read about everyone. Well, last thing that you all heard, I got suspended for two weeks along with Brian McMahon 1 week before 2nd semester finals of our Junior year, for pounding 2 Old English 800's at lunch. We missed finals, and didn't get to make them up, so I basically failed that semester. I transferred to Santa Teresa in San Jose, and ended up dropping out after a while. I used to hang out with Jim Pendleton, Brian McMahon, Tony Gianuzzi, Sam Russell, Jeff Wircus, Mike Patton, Aron Foskit, Steve Heald, but knew everyone. Jim, Tony, and Mike transferred to S.T. later, and they all graduated. After High School, we all went our seperate ways and ended up doing different things, and still somewhat stay in touch. I'm sure everyone brags that they went to high school with Jim Vasser. I got married in 1991 to a wonderful person, Kerry, and we have an 8 month boy, Antonio James. We live in San Jose near Blossom Hill, and Snell. I'm a NT Desktop Systems Administrator, currently working on a 6 month contract supporting a Sun Microsystems and Netscape Alliance joint venture called IPlanet. I'll tell anyone I see to update their profile. We all were so young, and full of life back then. Gee I hope everyone keeps on doing good. Take care, and let's hook up.

Hi!! Its been so long since I have heard from anyone I thought it was great when my sister found this homepage. I have a handsome 7 year old son, Travis. I am currently separated from my husband of 14 years, and loving life. I live on the American River, I love to whitewater raft, I am an avid jogger (eight miles a day), and I love anything to do with watersports. If you would like to email me you can send me a line via my sister's email and she will pass it along. Have a wonderful day, week, month, or lifetime!!!!!

may this 1st in a series bring back memories....

since i've thrown a bunch more clips up, here's the main page for convenience:

(boiler plate below)
so what have i been up to since LO?
Chico State (class of 88'). i puked a plenty, but got it out of my system early (no pun intended). i did the late bloomer 18 year old sheisen like, "How many beers can i drink in an hour?" geez. next thing i knew i was holding up a parked boxcar down at the railroad tracks, hurling like a thirsty desert hobo on Epicac. i later moved on to "How many cups of coffee can i drink tonight?" well i'm happy to report that after 13 bottomless cups served up by a smiling counter hottie, i suffered through the worst fraternity meeting in history. my intestinal tract felt like that rope pulled by pumped up lugs on that ESPN show, 'The Strongest Man on Earth'. my teeth were growing like a werewolf, each hair began standing on end, and i sat ready to tear the throat out of our bucket-o-sphincters chapter president who couldn't see past Robert's Rules of Order to save his life or our sanity.
(in no particular order now)
invited into the Directors Guild in 1990. sold motorhomes for a season. worked as a software programmer, webmaster, graphic, UI, and instructional designer, as well as an engineering manager. i was the voice of Quicken for a few years, as well as products for Sun, Oracle, Applied Materials, and MCI.
tried the Alaskan fish thing. played for coin as a street musician. launched boats, drove a tow truck, published poetry and prose. been a photographer, a bike messenger, and a moviehouse projectionist. pumped gas, bussed dishes, and worked 6 months on Johnny Carson's 'Tonight Show'. raced mountain bikes, worked as a bar bouncer (a seedy place), an actor, writer, editor, stage manager, director, and producer. also tended 20 acres of almonds, and was a script supervisor for 1,249 episodes of 'Days of our Lives'. i also worked on 'Wheel of Fortune', 'Scrabble', and a boatload of pilots you absolutely never saw. one funny note on Wheel: during their last week at NBC, a bunch of us went in and put "F^$# YOU" up on the letter board and took some pics. just the thing to show the grandkids.
on the personal side, i enjoy my wife (ex-lawyer who makes video games), 4 year old girl and her little brother (they own me). i do all the dishes, most of the yardwork, and none of the laundry, since i'm color blind and only undergraduate roommates won't tell you when you spend 4 years in pink t-shirts. i try to speak English, Spanish, and Russian, so our kids can grow up saying things their friends don't understand.
i remember once hauling out of the LO parking lot, Pete doing a double take as Wally and I had paper bags over our heads with eyes cut out to see. dumbass punks we were, not realizing ol Pete was then checking out the license plate. and the time ol' Walt just smoked his tires in a, i swear to you, four minute brakestand over in the teachers' parking lot. looked like a four alarm blaze had broken out under the rear wheels. we let up when Stanton came bounding out like Lassie, mouth agape in wonder.
have a good one, folks. stay safe out there. take care. and ENJOY.
:)
p.s. it was nine cups of beer in an hour, which i don't recommend to anyone, under any conditions, even if they're Jabba the Hut with 278% body fat and an O'Neil wetsuit for a stomach lining.

There are a lot of names here that I remember, and a lot that I don't. But its great to see so many have gone on to have happy successful lives.
As for me, I stayed in the bay area working first in retail, then as an administrative assistant, and then finally 'found' my calling. I am now an event planner (currently looking for a new job) in Southern California. I moved down here in October of 2003 and live in Long Beach. I love living in LB, and hope I'll soon find a new job in the area!
If anyone remembers me and wants to write, please do. Would love to hear more about my old classmates.

Hey all! I can't believe how fast 23 years goes by. Crazy!! I graduated from St.Mary's in 1995 w/ a BS in Nursing. Loved the field but not the hours. I've been in advertising for the last 8 years -I love my job and the company I work for as I have the freedom of working from my home office, making great money while still being available for my kids. I have been married for the last 6 years to my husband Sean. We've been together for 15 years. We have 2 children. Caitlin is 14, a freshman in High School (WHAT?!!!). She is a talented, beautiful girl. She was accepted into the Performing Arts Magnate at Tracy High School. She's a cheerleader and is in advanced choir and drama. TOO busy for boys (thank God!) Our son Nathan just turned 6 on Jan.24. He's in kindergarten and just the most amazing loving little boy! He loves to play baseball, is an amazing fisherman (like his Dad)and loves his video games (with his Dad.......) We also have our own business, The Upholstery Room. We opened last year and specialize in custom upholstery, furniture repair and Interior Design. Wow! What a ton of work! But, again, it affords us the luxury of being at home with our kids! We've lived in Tracy for almost 7 years and love it here. Although it has grown SO much since we've been here. It reminds me a lot of the "old" Morgan Hill (small town feel). Life is good.........Feel free to drop me a line to say HI! :o)

I'm sure that I'm the only one who is still working at the same job that I had since junior high school. I work at Honda Peninsula/Ducati in Sunnyvale. I married Annette Leon(class of 1981) in 1993, and have a son named "Cory" that is four years old. I enjoy off road racing, hunting, Four Wheeling and too many other hobbies to list.

After high school, I attended SJSU and started working for a couple of PI's. Next thing I knew, about 6 yrs later, I up opening my own business in investigations and high-end, plain clothed security. I married Michele Cone from Los Gatos HS, class of 1986. We met in 1987, dated for a few years and married in 1990. We have four children, Jenna, age 4, Evelyn is 2 1/2, Margo 1 1/2 and our new addition, Caden (yes finally a boy) was born 5/22/02. Four children in four years! Needless to say we've been busy! We live here in Gilroy where we bought a few acres near the east foothills. We're in the process of building our house (we outgrew the last one!) and are hoping to be in sometime in '03. We keep in touch with quite a few Acorns including some of those on this web site. I would love to hear from you so feel free to drop me an email sometime!

Hello everybody. I am living in Junction City Or. with my wonderful husband Thomas and 5 year old son Ian. Thomas and I have been together for 11 years, married for 6 of them. We moved to Or 5 years ago and were blessed with a blond headed, brown eyed son shortly after moving here. I am currently working as a Lead Med Aid and Supervising Caregiver in an assisted living facility. Before getting my own building to supervise, I worked with alzheimer patients for the same company. The work that I do is quite interesting. It's kind of like being in school I learn something new every day. From history to science. Life has been good to me and my family and I would'nt change a thing. I hope life has been just as good to the rest of the class of 1984.
Corini, Nick

Had a great time at the 20 year class reunion and hoping for a 25 year. God has been good to me and my family. I'm still living here in San Jose with my wife, Julie, of 13 years. I've got 3 great kids, Alexis 10, Nickolas 8, & Michael 5. There is always a baseball, basketball, soccer, or Pop Warner game or practice that we're taking them to & I'm usually the coach with my wife as the team mom. I spent a few years working for a bank before spending my last 15 years at Almaden Mazda, where I'm an owner and the General Manager. Honestly, life couldn't be much better...but I miss the class of 1984 and all of my friends. I still talk to my best buddy, Dave Andrews, every week and a few of the others. 1984 was the best and I miss those days. Remember jumping off the bridge, hanging out at Tennant Station (when there wasn't a party somewhere,) drinking Mickey's Big Mouths or Budweisers before the dances, the Gentlemans Club(Dave, Dave, TJ, Bob, Brian, John, Rob,...)& spinning donuts in the parking lot? Wish we could have just one more big party at my house. I bet I can still play quarters like I used to do. Hope we have a 25th. Life is going by way too fast...

Been doing the *Mom* thing for 20plus years; and now, thanks to my oldest, Rachel, am trying the *mother-in-law* gig, and trying NOT to be the stereotypical mother-in-law. Rachel and her husband, John, are both Active Duty Army; my son, Jeff, is a Marine; and the other two, Sarah and Haley, are still in high school. My husband, Gregg, is Active Army National Guard and is preparing to deploy to Iraq next Spring. Otherwise, we are enjoying the laidback middle-class Midwestern lifestyle.

I can't believe that it has been 24 years since L.O. I've often wondered what became of my classmates. Looks like most of you are doing pretty well. After graduation, I went to SJSU for a year, served a 2 year mission for the LDS Church (Mormons) in Oklahoma, went to Brigham Young University for 6 years to obtain both a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (93'), and a Masters of Technology Management (94'), in 1989 I married Susie Peery, (a Live Oak Grad, class of 86'). We didn't know each other at L.O. We met in Morgan Hill in 88' after my LDS mission. We have lived in Everett, Washington for the past 13 years, and love it. Susie is a full time mom to our 2 sons - Trevor (14) and Austin (13) and 1 daughter - Mackenzie (9). I've been employed as an Engineer for the past 14 years, and work for Crane Aerospace in the Seattle area as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer (meaning I get to put stuff together and ensure that 'ideas' can become 'reality', cost effectively.) Drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you.

Hello everyone! I hope all is well. Its been some time since I've spoken to any of you. My brother Chyett (class of '94) told me about this site, so I thought I'd drop a few lines. I'm excited that Chyett will be moving out here to join me quite soon.
After leaving a corporate job in the states 13 years ago, I decided to visit a friend in France. I've always wanted to travel the world, so I took leave of my job and left for Europe. My travels led me all over Western Europe and Africa. Though I miss the US, I would never have met my lovely wife or had our two beautiful children if I had not followed my dreams. In fact, we just celebrated our ten year anniversary.
I settled in France and I've been the lead singer of a band called Romeo Blue for the last 10 years. If you're interested, you can check our album out on iTunes. The album is called "Soul Flowers"
Well take care everyone
D.
